A Pandemic Doesn't Put a Brake on Explorers

What a summer it has been.

In early March we never imagined a summer without Boston Explorers. But Explorers have grit and determination. We’re out in all kinds of weather—rainy days and snowy February afternoons. We bike and swim and make things with our hands. We are flexible and inventive. Above all, we are kind to each other. We’ll go the extra mile for a friend and a neighbor. So, virtual camp? No problem!

We kicked off the summer by delivering art and gardening kits to Explorers all over Boston.

Through interactive online apps, we facilitated all kinds of projects, including painting, Play-Doh sculptures, and windowsill gardens.

And our enthusiastic and skilled staff lead these activities in clever and engaging ways.

Reaching out on Zoom, our skilled staff organized sessions to keep Explorers talking and connected to each other.

Our teen leaders-in-training (LITs) are making a difference in our community b preparing and packaging meals for families in need, spending time with the elderly and babysitting children of essential workers.

Thank you to our generous donors, enthusiastic staff, and camp families for helping to make this a vital summer learning experience possible for our kids.
